Efficiency at its Finest
In 2002, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) hired Brook Group to customize and implement their signature Tacklebox Content Management System (CMS) into the DOJ’s Office of Justice Programs’ Intranet. Since 1996, Brook Group has assisted the DOJ by providing brand identity campaigns, Web site design, architecture and consulting, including the development of a communications Web site for September 11th victims’ families.
No Project Too Big
This large workload included customer engineering and installing a content management system uniquely designed for the Office of Justice Programs’ (OJP) complex intranet. We re-architectured the interface of the intranet to be intuitive and easy-to-use. We made all the information quickly accessible.
Making it Easy
By using our CMS, we created a publishing platform customized distribution capability to allow for immediate web publishing and priority dissemination of all timely information. We also automated and improved the e-mail system, calendar publishing and Rolodex. The new design was also intended to reduce the amount of paperwork created by the OJP under the HIPAA laws.
The Process
Brook Group conducted a detailed Discovery process by interviewing all key stakeholders about their internal communications process. During their Analysis phase, Brook Group created a matrix of all applicable information and client functionality goals. We then developed an intuitive interface with a fully dynamic main page allowing for important information entered into the system to automatically bubble to the top (publish to the main page).
The Results Are In
The complete site met all of the DOJ’s specifications and exceeded their expectations. Because of Tacklebox, all information can be published on the fly from any location. Individual departments can create their own intranet pages. It also replaced the printed department phone directory.
Saving Taxpayers’ Money
By putting publishing in the hands of content owners, Tacklebox CMS reduced the amount of support required from IT for the intranet
Accessible to All
Not only is the information contained on the site accessible within three to four mouse clicks, but the entire site is Section 508 compliant, fulfilling the government¿s accessibility requirements.
Up and Running
The department mandated that the intranet home page be the default page for all departmental browsers, ensuring efficient information dissemination for every employee all day. The installed version of Tacklebox CMS is still in use today.
