Improving the User Experience

SLXpress.com is a premier site for student loan information. Designed for students, parents, guidance counselors and financial aid advisors, the site needed to get the right information to the appropriate user. Educational Lending Group, the site’s managing company, hired Brook Group to design a site that provided a user-centered experience.

Center of the Universe

At Brook Group, we understand that the user is first and foremost when it comes to Web design. If a site is unusable, it’s worthless. During our Web site redesign for SLXpress, we focused on creating a site where users could easily and intuitively find the desired information.

All Together Now

We gathered the content from SLXpress and inserted it into our prototyping tool, RAD, which allowed us to determine relationships between content and decide the basic navigation. Similar information was grouped together, all based on which user would need to access it. We then designed the home page with a link for each type of user, guiding them into their section of the site.

The Results Are In

The SLXpress site combines clear graphics, standardized navigation menus and a wealth of helpful outbound links, all which contribute to a positive customer experience. Best of all, the design consistently promotes the application for loans, the main objective of the site.
